Services Offered:

I am an Integrative advanced trainee psychotherapist offering long and short-term work on a one to one basis. I work on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and some evenings.

About my approach:

Integrative counselling maintains the idea that there are many ways in which human psychology can be explored and understood - no one theory alone holds the answer. All theories are considered to have value and this approach is concerned not only with what works, but why it works - tailoring therapy to their clients and not the client to the therapy.

My own approach is holistic - being interested in the whole person, body, mind and spirit.  I have found that a mindfulness-based way of working with difficulties is very helpful as it is about responding with relaxed awareness to whatever is going on in the present, with an attitude of friendly acceptance and genuine interest.  Instead of struggling with problems we can begin to simply 'be' with them. In trusting the process, and listening deeply to whatever is experienced, with an open mind and without judgement, greater awareness, clarity and healing can arise. The way forward that is right for each person will have a tendency to unfold naturally.

In counselling and psychotherapy there is space and uninterrupted time in which you can talk about whatever is important to you and find solutions that are right for you. You can be sure that whatever you talk about will be treated in absolute confidence and with respect.

Counselling/Psychotherapy - How I will work with you

We would start by exploring what has prompted you to come for counselling at this time, and what you hope to gain from it. We would then decide together whether short or longer term work may be needed. We would regularly review our work together to ensure your needs were being met. Sessions last 1 hour.

I abide by the UK Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP) Ethical Framework, and codes of professional conduct.

In the past I have provided counselling to young and elderly adults from all backgrounds, who have experienced distress and emotional challenge in their life, some of which are listed below.

  • Loss and bereavement
  • Challenging family / relationship situations
  • Trying to live life fully with long term health conditions
  • Anxiety and depression.
  • Workplace stress including bullying, harassment and work pressure.
  • Trauma and PTSD

Qualifications:

• Trainee Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, via the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership, Cardiff.

DBS Check: Yes, advanced.
